The Board, Committees, Players, and Members of the Montrose Football Club are deeply saddened at the passing of our esteemed Past President, Past Secretary and Life Member, Graham Taylor, knknowno his Montrose Football Club family as ‘Squizzy’.

Squizzy passed away on 3rd October 2023 aged 80 years.

Squizzy was a central figure at Montrose Football Club from the 60s, taking on the role of Club Secretary in 1971 and 1974, then becoming President in 1985 and 1986.

He was also a club committee member for over 20 years.

There wasn’t a job at Montrose Football Club that Squizzy didn’t take care of on a regular basis, from the Presidency to barman to emptying rubbish bins and cleaning the floor after every Saturday night before locking up, cleaning out the change rooms after every match and breaking up the occasional round of fisticuffs, just a few of the many jobs he did every week over his 55 years at the club.

Squizzy volunteered to be our gateman in 2010 and continued this up until 2016. As with his other roles, he carried out his job with the utmost tenacity, and was not happy if anyone slipped past him without paying the entry fee.

Squizzy’s proudest moments at the club were the winning of the three Senior Premierships in 1981, 1992 and 2013.

Squizzy always had a smile on his face and was always genuinely happy to see you, he was a true gentleman.

He will be sadly missed at Montrose Football Club.

The Club would like to express its deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to Squizzy’s family and friends at this sad time.
